Effluent Treatment Plant or ETP Plant for Pharma Industry
Characteristic of effluent:
Effluent generated from pharma industry can be slightly acidic or alkaline depends on treatment and its contains high COD due to chemicals.

Treatment scheme
Screen Chamber:
The screening is achieved by placing a screen made out of vertical bars, placed across the Effluent flow.
The function of the bar screen is to prevent entry of solid particles/ articles above a certain size.
Equalization Tank:
The Effluent from the bar screen chamber comes to the equalization tank. The equalization tank is the first collection tank in ETP
Its main function is to act as buffer: To collect the incoming raw sewage that comes at widely fluctuating rates, and pass it on to the rest of the STP at a steady (average) flow rate.
pH correction Dosing:
pH dosing is helps to neutral the pH of Effluent adjusting pH up to 7.5 pH.
Alum Dosing :
Alum acts as a flocculants allowing particles to cling together forming larger particles which in turn fall from suspension and settle in the bottom of tanks.
Poly Dosing :
The poly dosing increases the sedimentation rate, provides clean water, and thickens the sludge at the pond’s bottom for easier management and disposal.
Neutralization Tank :
The aim of neutralisation is to modify an acid or base water flow to a neutral pH (approximately 7.5).
Settling tank:
Settling tank for settle down the sludge which generated after neutralization process.
PSF :
Pressure Sand Filter: This is tertiary water treatment process in which water is passed through multi layers of filter media consisting graded sand, pebbles and gravels layers. The contaminants in the water are captured in the media bed and filtered water passes into the discharge manifold at the bottom of the tanks.
PSF is used for the removal of suspended matter, as well as floating and sinkable particles.
ACF :
Activated Carbon Filter: Outlet from PSF passed through ACF.
ACF with granular activated carbon (GAC) is a proven option to remove certain chemicals, particularly organic chemicals, from water. GAC filters also can be used to remove chemicals that give objectionable odours or tastes to water such as hydrogen sulphide or chlorine, thereby making the water suitable for discharge or use in manufacturing processes.
Electric Evaporator:
Electric evaporation is a process where evaporation of effluent happens through electricity. Treated effluent from ETP will Evaporate in Electric evaporator to achieve ZLD
