Membrane Bioreactor Process
Membrane Bioreactor or MBR Sewage Treatment Plant is an innovative wastewater treatment method. As the name suggests, it combines two technologies, membrane filtration and the biological treatment. This treatment scheme is based on primary treatment consists of screening and equalization followed by secondary biological treatment consisting of aerobic treatment having MBBR media followed by MBR. The Treated waste water will be discharged on land for gardening and plantation after doing online disinfections per GPCB Norms.
It has emerged as an efficient compact technology for municipal and industrial waste water.
It is the combination of a membrane process like microfiltration or ultra-filtration with a biological wastewater treatment process.
MBR Advantages
- Compactness and small layout size of the plant
- Simple management of the plant, as a result of high degree of automation (low dependence on human factor
- Small quantity of excess sludge and therewith connected costs
- Constant effluent quality, regardless of the influent
- Operation costs are lower than in classical biological plant
- Complete bacteria removal
- Possibility of reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation purposes or as process water
- No odor emission or noise
- Fast construction, because of relatively small size of the plant
- No risk of biomass loss
